Have you ever taken a wellness vacation? If not, there is truly no time like the present to consider a wellness destination for your next trip. 2020 has been an intense + historic year complete with increased stress and concern for our health. Taking a mini wellness retreat is the perfect way to unplug and destress from the chaos.

The Fierce Reset is our signature wellness retreat and this post will breakdown the wellness destination selection process. Wellness vacations are my speciality (and honestly the initial core business model of Fierce Clarity lol). I’ve hosted retreats and also taken many solo retreats by myself.

Below you’ll find high level points to consider. If you want details + specific hotel recommendations, don’t miss our Fierce Reset: Digital Edition where I equip you with the tools + info to plan your own custom wellness retreat!

Wellness Destination Considerations

  • Location — The first thing to consider is location. Due to COVID, you absolutely want this destination to be within driving distance so you can avoid unnecessary air travel/exposure to COVID. If your dream location is a bit further away, consider taking a few days off work and taking a multi-day road trip.
  • Proximity to Nature — It is imperative you select as wellness destination close to nature. As humans, nature serves as a natural healing mechanism for both our physical and metaphysical bodies. There are different types of nature with different types of energy — ie Beach, Mountain, Forest, Desert, Lake, etc.
  • Hotel vs AirBnb — This is important during the Age of COVID-19. Personally, I’m a hotel girl because I love the service but I’ve also done AirBnbs when no hotels are available or for a glamping vibe. When considering lodging for a wellness vacation, remember relaxation is KEY. We want to optimize for comfort and convenience. For hotels — I recommend filtering for only 4 and 5 star options. For AirBnb — Filter for Superhost + Entire Place and as a bonus filter for AirBnb Plus + Luxe whenever possible.
  • Aesthetics — Think zen + calm when thinking of the aesthetics of your wellness destination. Design is important! When picking a hotel, consider wellness properties as they typically have a serene aesthetic. When selecting an AirBnb, use the Plus filter option to find places with a more elevated design aesthetic.
  • Amenities — What makes your wellness destination special? Amenities! In a pre-COVID world I’d implore you to focus on Spa Services as your key amenity. In a post-COVID world, be creative! Amenities could be a pool, hot tub, or hot spring or perhaps access to a hiking trail or a bike to go for a ride. When making your final wellness destination decision, always pick the place with the better amenities.
