During challenging times, it can be easy to abandon hope. When life seems “out of control”, we may focus on a perceived negative future. Today, I want to offer you another way of thinking — I want to remind you that as you imagine, so you create! Imagination is a divine gift and we can use it to co-create + manifest positive experiences into our reality via creative visualization.

What is Creative Visualization?

Creative visualization is a cognitive technique whereby we use the imagination to visualize outcomes we want to manifest in our lives. The concept of creative visualization has been around for centuries. It has been studied by psychologists and is a technique used by top athletes when training for competition. More recently, the concept of conscious creative visualization was popularized by New Age author Shakti Gawain in the 1970s. In her book Creative Visualization, she writes

“Creative visualization is the technique of using your imagination to create what you want in your life. There is nothing at all new, strange, or unusual about creative visualization. You are already using it every day — every minute in fact. It is your natural power of imagination, the basic creative energy of the universe, which you use constantly, whether or not you are aware of it. Imagination is the ability to create an idea, a mental picture, or a feeling sense of something. In creative visualization you use your imagination to create a clear image, idea, or feeling of something you wish to manifest. Then you continue to focus on the idea, feeling, or picture regularly, giving it positive energy until it becomes objective reality … in other words, until you actually achieve what you have been imagining.”
